East of Central Expressway and south of downtown is the vast expanse that is referred to as east Dallas. It comprises many neighborhoods and vintages of homes. From the charming Tudor style homes of the M-Streets and Hollywood Heights, to the bustling new construction homes between Skillman and Abrams, to the Dines and Kraft and Hutsell mansions in Lakewood and surrounding White Rock Lake, these neighborhoods have something for everybody and are rich with history. The first subdivision in Dallas, Munger Place, which is an official conservation district, is lined with Prairie style homes with wrap-around porches inviting homeowners to live in the charm of a bygone era. For a more upscale vintage lifestyle, there are the adjacent mansions along Swiss Avenue. This was the first “millionaires row” in Dallas. White Rock Lake is a mecca for outdoor activities with its 9.2-mile hike and bike trail, yachting clubs, and the verdant expanse of the Dallas Arboretum. Great neighborhoods continue to abound on the east and south sides of the lake. Forest Hills was originally advertised as being “10 degrees cooler” with its half-acre lots and abundant trees. We think it is still “way cool”! The Casa Linda area, at Buckner Boulevard and Garland Road on the east side of the lake, continues to offer wonderful living opportunities and exceptional values as does the Buckner Terrace neighborhood with its enormous trees and architecturally appealing mid-century modern homes. Heading back towards downtown on Gaston Avenue, the Powers brothers have renovated the apartments into upscale urban condominiums. Travel further south past Baylor University Medical Center to find new town home construction by builders like Urban Innovations. The residences at Hotel Palomar and the urban lofts at Mockingbird Station are both situated in the heart of the city. It is hard to describe everything that east Dallas has to offer. In a word it is diverse and has many wonderful surprises that your Bill Griffin Real Estate expert can open up to you.
