About Bill Griffin
Bill Griffin is a name that people have known in the real estate community for many years. It was only a matter of time before Bill’s name would show up on signs in front of homes in the heart of Dallas. Bill spent his first 23 years as a residential agent and co-owner of David Griffin and Company; Bill took his career to the next level and founded Bill Griffin Real Estate (BGRE), located in Snider Plaza. In the Fall of 2016, Bill Griffin Real Estate moved its full-service office across from Oaklawn Park in Dallas’ vibrant Turtle Creek area. Most recently, Bill has come full circle back to being in business with his brother at David Griffin & Company, where they are celebrating 40 years of servicing the Dallas market.
“Combining the expertise of our two firms again makes sense. There is strength in numbers. Having a more diverse and dynamic sales team is helpful as we continue to meet the challenges and opportunities of Dallas’ ever-changing real estate market.,” says Bill.
Bill has a history and perspective that can only be acquired from time-honored experience. Bill’s expertise includes multiple aspects of real estate including: single-family, multifamily development, land acquisition, investment property, and commercial development. Bill and his team specialize in marketing upper-end single-family homes in the close-in, established neighborhoods of Dallas such as the Park Cities, Uptown/Downtown, Oak Lawn/Turtle Creek, Lakewood/East Dallas, North Dallas/Preston Hollow, and Kessler/Stephens Park, as well as marketing many multifamily new-construction developments.
“I am well known for my success in marketing multifamily developments and working one-on-one with developers,” Bill says. “I will continue to work with developers as well as representing buyers and sellers on their homes and in the commercial realm where my accounting background and business degree are beneficial.”
Bill Griffin began his career in the early 1980s and established many precedents in his real estate career and for the real estate community. Bill was one of the first agents to market multifamily developments in the Uptown and Knox/Travis neighborhoods before projects of this type became mainstream.
“The pioneer developers like City Homes inspired me, and I could see the vision they had for an urban lifestyle in Dallas,” Bill says. “I also knew there was a huge market of younger buyers who were not ready for a house but did not want to continue renting. The new condo and townhome developments provided the answer and filled a huge gap in the market that had been missing since the condo market crashed in the mid-1980s.”
Bill produced buyer seminars to promote urban living to get the public excited about the new lifestyle. These seminars allowed the buyers to learn about new developments and see a presentation on the vision for these new work/shop/live, in-town neighborhoods. Combining retail, restaurants, offices, and homes altogether was a living alternative that had not been available. It took some promotion to get the word out and convince developers and homeowners this new lifestyle was here to stay. Over the years, Bill Griffin sold out over 60 projects. Developers Bill has represented include: Urban Innovations, Metro-Town Homes, Grenadier, Luna Corp, City Homes, Breckenridge-Nixon, Pan America, Lazarus Capital, LTN, Marksman Realty, Gorman Homes, Urban Genesis, Hanover and Chillmarc to name a few. The Projects section of the BGRE website goes into more detail on this rich history.
“Real estate in Dallas has been dynamic over the past 40 + years, and it has been exhilarating to be at the forefront of it all,” Bill explains. “I knew that younger buyers were using the web to do their research and not relying as much on the Sunday morning newspaper to find the properties they were looking for,” Bill says. “Now, over 95% of home buyer’s searches begin online.”
Bill created an e-mail newsletter to keep his clients up-to-date on the market and provide invaluable information on mortgage rates and real estate opportunities. Bill’s skills as a leader became evident when he established a mentor program for new agents who joined the company. This program was especially important after 9/11 and the mortgage crisis when there was a slump in the real estate business.
“Morale was low and this program provided the support we all needed to keep our spirits up,” Bill says. “It encouraged everyone to persevere. I have always enjoyed helping the people I work with to keep a positive attitude.”
Bill’s background and education in accounting produced a natural interest in the mortgage business. This interest, coupled with a desire to expand his business, led Bill to create a mortgage partnership within his company.
“This allowed us to provide an in-house mortgage department for our clients and agents to get up-to-date and immediate information without delays,” Bill says. “It also allowed us to vertically integrate our services to provide a more efficient level of service to our clients. The mortgage partnership is one of the most successful ventures the company has implemented.”
Bill Griffin’s skills as a businessman and entrepreneur created a desire to establish his own real estate company and group. Bill Griffin Real Estate Group allows him to serve his clients at the highest level without any compromise.
“At some point in your career you realize that in order to be true to yourself you have to set your own standards and sometimes the only way you can do that is going out on your own,” Bill adds.
Bill Griffin Real Estate and Bill Griffin Real Estate Group were created to provide assistance with all aspects of real estate. “Whether you are buying, selling, investing, or just need advice on your mortgage, property taxes or working with the city we are here to help,” Bill says.
“Our web page is set up to provide information and guidance in all of these areas at www.billgriffinrealestate.com. I encourage you to visit my website or contact me in person and I will be glad to assist you.”
